Resources for Families

At Oxford Area School District, we are proud to support our military-connected students and families. We recognize that military life brings unique experiences and transitions, and we are committed to ensuring that every family feels welcomed, connected, and supported throughout their educational journey. 

 

This section provides resources to help military families navigate school transitions, access local and state support services, learn about educational rights and opportunities, and connect with programs designed to strengthen military families. Whether you are new to our district or have been part of the Oxford community for years, we are honored to partner with you in supporting your child's success. 

 

Included in this section, we offer military affiliated family resources:  

 

  • Training Opportunities through Oxford Area School District as well as MIC3 Training Opportunities 

    The Military Interstate Children’s Compact Commission (MIC3) offers training opportunities designed to help educators, school administrators, counselors, and military-connected stakeholders understand and effectively implement the Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children. Training options include Compact 101, which provides an overview of the Compact, its requirements, and how it supports military-connected students, and Compact 201, which builds on this foundation through case studies, discussion of complex situations, and best practices. These trainings are available at no cost and support schools in providing consistent, informed assistance to military families during educational transitions.  

    The MIC3 online training portal also provides flexible, self-paced learning opportunities for school personnel and community partners who support military-connected students.  

     

  • MilitaryOneSource 

    • A DoD resource that provides military members, families, and educators with access to trusted information, support services, and resources to help navigate the unique challenges of military life. The website offers resources related to relocation, education, family support, counseling, financial readiness, and overall military family well-being. For military-connected students and families, Military OneSource serves as a valuable resource for accessing information and support that promotes successful transitions and family readiness. 

     

  • MIC3 Resource and Tool Kit 

    • The Military Interstate Children’s Compact Commission (MIC3) Resource and Tool Kit provides families, educators, and school personnel with practical guidance and resources to support military-connected students as they transition between schools. The toolkit helps schools understand Compact provisions, address common challenges, and ensure students receive consistent support during military relocations. 

     

  • The Military Connected Student 

    • This resource section provides helpful tools, information, and support services to assist military-connected students, families, and educators. These resources are designed to increase awareness, support successful transitions, and strengthen partnerships between schools and military families. 

     

  • PA Act 14 

    • Establishes provisions related to the education of children in Pennsylvania, including requirements for school attendance and access to public education. It provides the foundation for ensuring eligible students, including military-connected students residing in Pennsylvania, have the opportunity to receive educational services within their local school district. 

     

  • DOD 1342.29 

    • Requirements for children of eligible military and Department of Defense civilian families to enroll in DoDEA schools. It defines eligibility criteria and helps ensure qualifying students have access to a consistent, high-quality education while their families serve. 

     

  • PA Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children Act  

    • The Pennsylvania Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children helps ensure a smooth educational transition for military-connected students. It provides consistent guidelines for enrollment, records transfer, course placement, eligibility, and graduation requirements, reducing barriers when military families relocate due to service.
