Mrs. Karen Andress
My name is Mrs. Karen Andress and I teach art to grades 3 and 4 at Nottingham Elementary School. I am a life-long resident of Oxford and a graduate of Kutztown University with a degree in Art K-12. I have done graduate worh at Millersville University and The University of the Arts. i began teaching art in 1976 and I have taught art at every grade level from kindergarten through high school. Nothing is more rewarding than teaching something you love with a group of curious and creative children. It is with great joy and gratitude that I guide your young artist through a year of art and adventure.
We have an exciting art program at Nottingham offering children a chance to experiment with a variety of art tools and materials. Children are encouraged to experiment and problem solve as they try their hand at painting, drawing, printmaking, textiles arts, ceramics, collage and sculpture. We are very fortunate to have two well-equipped art rooms, two ceramic kilns and a beautiful courtyard space for outdoor art classes.
The art program at Nottingham is aligned with both the Pennsylvania and National Standards for Visual Art. Throughout the year students will create art, learn about famous artists and their art, talk about art, and present their beautiful art to their families and school community during our annual Spring Fine Arts Celebration and again at the Oxford Arts Alliance in June.
A HUGE Thank you to all of our Nottingham families who joined us for Fine Arts Night on Thursday, March 24, 2018!!! FINE ARTS NIGHT was AWESOME!!! We are currently planning Fine Arts Night 2019 and I will post the date as soon as the details are finalized.
