Degrees and Certifications:
Sara Hannum is a 2009 graduate of West Chester University. During her time at the university, she focused on clarinet, piano, voice, with an emphasis on music education. As a university student, Mrs. Hannum participated in a variety of ensembles including the West Chester University Incomparable Golden Rams Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Orchestra, Symphonic Band, and Cantari Donne Select Women's Chorus. She studied piano under Dr. Pennington as well as Dr. Valetta and clarinet under Dr. Karen Dannessa.
Upon graduation, Mrs. Hannum spent her first year teaching General Music and Chorus in the School District of Philadelphia. She then moved to the Oxford Area School District in 2010 where she began teaching General Music and directing the three choral groups at Hopewell Elementary School. Mrs. Hannum also works with the OAHS Marching Hornets Colorguard and plays in the pit orchestra for the high school's annual musical productions. In 2016, Mrs. Hannum graduated with an M.S. in Educational Development and Strategies from Wilkes University. In 2018, she began rehearsing with the West Chester Community Band.
In her free time, she enjoys teaching piano lessons, tending to her chickens, hiking with her husband and kids, and cooking. Mrs. Hannum can't live without coffee and chocolate, and she loves watching The Office.
