OAHS Oxford Rotary Club October Seniors of the Month

Oxford Area High School students Justin Neskie and Elena Roe were honored as Oxford Rotary Club Seniors of the Month for October.
Justin, son of Kimberly and Christian Neskie, is vice-president of the Class of 2020 and treasurer of Interact, a community service club of Rotary International sponsored locally by the Oxford Rotary Club. With Interact he has helped coordinate fundraisers for the installation of the inclusive playground at Oxford Memorial Park and for scholarships for students enrolled in the high school’s Early College Academy partnership with Cecil College.
Justin will finish his third year as a member of the varsity football team at receiver and defensive back and will begin his third year on the varsity baseball team as a pitcher and middle infielder. In his junior year on the baseball team, Justin was named to the Daily Local News All-Area First Team. He is also a member of the winter track team.
After graduation Justin plans to attend college to study mathematics or science.
Elena, daughter of Laurie and James Roe, is a member of National Honor Society and the Tri-M Music Honor Society and is president of the National English Honor Society. She sings in the Choral Ensemble and Bella Voce, and has participated in the high school's past three musical productions.
Elena serves at Student Representative on the Oxford Area Board of School Directors, reporting on district-wide student activities at each regular board meeting. She has participated in an ATP independent study course where she researched opportunities to expand course offerings in English and history at the high school, working with administrators to add AP courses in these areas.
After graduation Elena would like to attend college to major in international affairs. Her preferred schools include The College of William and Mary and Georgetown and American universities.
