June School Board Wrap
The board welcomed Oxford Area High School rising senior Elena Roe as Student Representative for 2019-20. She is a member of National Honor Society and the Tri-M Music Honor Society and is president of the National English Honor Society.
Elena sings in the Choral Ensemble and Bella Voce, and has participated in the high school's past three musical productions. She was a member of the tennis team in her freshman and sophomore years.
After graduation Elena would like to attend college to major in international affairs. Her preferred schools include The College of William and Mary and Georgetown and American universities.

Chester County Intermediate Unit and Technical College High School Representative Howard Robinson reported that Dr. George Fiore was appointed as the CCIU's new executive director on June 12. Dr. Fiore has served as superintendent of the Kutztown Area School District since 2016 and was previously principal of Wilson High School in West Lawn, Berks County for four years.
Dr. Fiore will be returning to Downingtown, where the CCIU headquarters are located, having previously served as the founding headmaster of the Downingtown STEM Academy. He will be replacing Dr. Joseph O’Brien, who is retiring from public education at the end of July.
Mr. Robinson noted that Dr. O’Brien, who has headed the CCIU since 2007, is credited with growing services and launching new initiatives that increased CCIU revenues by $120 million, as its overall annual budget grew from $150 million to $270 million. Dr. Fiore will begin his duties as CCIU executive director on August 12.
Athletics and Student Activities Committee member Jenifer Warren reported that at the June 11 meeting Athletic Director Michael Price informed the committee that Pennsylvania House of Representatives Bill 1600 proposes that public and private school teams compete separately in PIAA state athletic tournaments, with a championship final between schools in the two categories. Ms. Warren said the bill only applies to state-wide competition.

The board approved the collective bargaining agreement with the Teamsters Local Union No. 384, for the District Service and Support Staff, for the period from July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2022.
The board heard the first reading of a revision to Policy #5620 – District Wide Wellness.
The board adopted the 2019-2020 Cafeteria Fund Budget and Pricing. At the June 11 work session, Business Administrator Brian Cooney reported that each district elementary school as well as Penn's Grove Middle School qualify for community eligibility, making students from grades kindergarten through 8 universally eligible for free breakfast and lunch. At Oxford Area High School, breakfast will be $1.75 and lunch will be $2.70 for the 2019-20 school year.
