Mr. Tighe was born and raised in North Wilmington, Delaware. In 1984 he joined the Delaware Army National Guard to take advantage of the college benefits while becoming a valuable asset in service to our country.
While serving in the National Guard Mr. Tighe completed the Officer Candidate School and became a Certified Army Instructor. In January 2007 Mr. Tighe retired from the Delaware Army National Guard after 22 years of exemplary service.
Mr. Tighe attended college at Widener University, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in accounting and a Master's Degree in taxation. He is currently a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Financial Planner and a partner in a Wilmington CPA firm. Mr. Tighe has also been the treasurer of his local church for more than seven years.
In 2003 Mr. Tighe and his wife Anna, an Oxford Area High School graduate, moved from Delaware to Oxford so their children could get a better public education in the Oxford Area School District. Mr. Tighe is currently in his second term as an elected School Director.
Mr. Tighe says his main reason for wanting to be a board member is to give back whatever he can to the schools that his children attend, and to serve the needs of the entire community by maintaining an ethical, impartial and honest attitude based on a foundation of integrity and professionalism.
