Oxford Area High School Sports Wall of Fame 2017
Oxford Area High School held the 17th annual Sports Wall of Fame Induction on October 16, honoring outstanding student-athletes and community supporters from throughout the history of OAHS sports. Each inductee received a commemorative plate from Lancaster County Redware courtesy of Shirley Hess, and a photograph of the group will be permanently displayed in the high school.

Ray Stata, Class of 1953
Brad Buchanan accepted Ray Stata's induction into the Oxford Area High School Sports Wall of Fame from ceremony hosts Ken Howett, left, and Ken Woodward.
Ray earned 18 letters - four each in baseball, soccer and track as well as two in basketball. At MIT he played soccer for one year.
Ray said her does not remember too much about his athletic career other than he loved the competition and he put in a lot of hard work. In 2006 Ray was a member of the first induction class of the Oxford Area High School Distinguished Alumni.
Judy Shoop, Class of 1976
Named the outstanding girl athlete of 1976, Judy participated in field hockey and basketball for four years. In track and field she placed third in javelelin at the District level. Judy held the school record for javelin but is not sure if that record has been broken, adding that records are meant to be broken.
Shawn Jones, Class of 1990
Shawn played three years of varsity football and was co-captain his senior year. He was a varsity basketball player for three years, ran track for two years and was a varsity baseball player for one year, with a total of nine varsity letters. Shawn was also voted Homecoming King in his senior year.
Craig Mahon, Class of 1999
Craig participated in varsity football and track in grades 10 through 12, earning six varsity letters and helping both teams earn District 1 championshps. He was co-captain of the football team and was named to the Philadelphia Inquirer All-Area Team.
In track and field, Craig was Southern Chester County League champion for javelin, setting the school record, and was named team MVP. He played Division II football at East Stroudsburg University, helping the team win the PSAC Eastern Division championship in 2002.
Craig teaches health and physical education at Hopewell Elementary School and has coached football at Oxford and Unionville.
Meredith Dolinger Hostetter, Class of 2005
Meredith participated in field hockey and softball for four years and played hockey in the winter. She was captain of both the hockey and softball teams. The hockey team went on to Districts all four years, with Meredith earning first and second team all-league honors.
Meredith played hockey at Millersville University and was named All-PASC in her senior year. She was named to the NFHCA National Academic Team and a PSAC Scholar-Athlete while at Millersville.
