Act 44 of 2018 contained multiple provisions related to school safety, including the requirement for our Office to establish the Safe2Say Something (S2SS) Anonymous Reporting System. Act 44 mandates every school entity, defined as "a school district, charter school, cyber charter school, private school, nonpublic school, intermediate unit or area vocational-technical school operating within this Commonwealth," to develop procedures for assessing and responding to reports received from the S2SS program.
We encourage you to watch this short video as a reminder of why the legislature enacted Act 44, and directed the Office of Attorney General to establish this program.
We have partnered with Sandy Hook Promise to provide training to educators and dispatch staff across the state. There were twenty S2SS kick-off webinars which began in mid-October, followed by 142 in-person trainings provided to district and dispatch staff throughout Pennsylvania.
As we look to protect our Pennsylvania students, we thank you for your cooperation and assistance in rolling out this life-saving program.
Sincerely,
Safe2Say Something Team
Office of Attorney General
