Miss Peyton Beebe
Welcome to Music at Nottingham Elementary!
My name is Ms. Peyton Beebe, and I am your third grade general music teacher and fourth grade chorus director for the 2024-2025 school year! I am so happy you are here, and I am eager to get to know and make music with your musicians.
I grew up in Bethany Beach, DE, and graduated from the Indian River School District. I went to West Chester University of PA for my undergraduate degree in Music Education, and graduated in 2022. Immediately following graduation, I accepted a graduate assistantship with the music education department to get my graduate degree. I got my Master's degree in Music Education in May 2024. This will be my first year teaching in the Oxford Area School District, and I couldn't be more excited to be here!
When I'm not playing music, I am either baking, shopping, spending time with my family/friends, or playing with my two cats, Cherry and Oreo.
My philosophy of music education is that music should be accessible to children of all ages and abilities. Music class should foster creativity; allowing children to explore their own emotions and personal interests, and give them the tools to express themselves. Music class at Nottingham Elementary will allow each child to sing, dance, play, explore instrument families/music history, learn about music from different cultures around the world, play the recorder, and other musical activities. The chorus at Nottingham Elementary will dive into learning and reading choral music, finding our voices, and working together as a team to perform as our best selves for the community. My goal is to help my students develop a strong music appreciation that they can take with them for the rest of their lives!
