Bachelor or Arts, Finance Minor degree in French University of Utah English 7 - 12 Certification West Chester University

Ms. Suzanne Lauer

Suzanne Lauer has been teaching English since 2005. She taught seventh and eighth grade English language arts at Penn's Grove Middle School for 11 years and for three years, directed the Fall Play and Penn's Players. In 2016 she transferred to Oxford Area High School where she currently teaches English 11 American Literature and Introduction to Film Studies.

Suzanne moved to Chester County via New York City, San Francisco, and Sioux Falls, South Dakota where she was born and raised.  She studied finance with a concentration in investments and a minor in French at the University of Utah.   While there, she stumbled into a latent appreciation of the writing craft reading Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice and continued taking literature classes in the emerging Women's Studies department.  Nevertheless, she proceeded to work for Hambrecht & Quist, Inc. as a sales assistant in institutional equities.  Prompted by her lifelong love of reading, raising two children, and fond recollections of seventh grade  - falling in love with Sir Nigel in The White Company, acting in the musical "Finian's Rainbow" and analyzing the song "One Tin Soldier" - she eventually decided to retool and try selling her true passion: the language arts.  Suzanne returned to school to earn her teaching certification in 2001 while substitute teaching in the West Chester Area School School District.

In the summertime she puts down the pen, picks up a spade, and resumes the endless quest to transform her property in Westtown Township into a "Little Longwood".  A member of the Quarry Swimming Association, she annually designs, plants, and maintains their container gardens and enjoys a rejuvenating swim.
