The National English Honor Society (NEHS), was founded and sponsored March 25th, 2004, by Sigma Tau Delta, the International English Honor Society. The Oxford Chapter of NEHS, the Buldungsroman Chapter, was formed in 2015. Immediate benefits of affiliation are national recognition, scholarship eligibility, and opportunities for national networking with others who share enthusiasm for, and accomplishment in, the language arts. NEHS has the following primary goals: to recognize on the national level those who, on the basis of academic grades and performance, merit special note for past and current accomplishments; to nurture members to further develop their abilities in the various fields of English; and to encourage members to use their talents in the service of others. Members of NEHS are required to complete service hours consistent with the mission of the organization. Website: https://sites.google.com/site/nehsoahs/

The NEHS runs a “Writer’s Workshop” in the library every Wednesday from 2:30-3:00, where students can receive individual help on writing assignments. We try to advertise this heavily in the English department, but if you are asking students to complete writing for your course and you think they could use help with the composition aspect of the assignment, please feel free to recommend the workshop!
This year, students can also receive help electronically. Students who are unable to stay after school or who are not comfortable getting help from their peers face-to-face can email questions to NEHS members for individual feedback. We will be hanging flyers to advertise this component very soon. In the meantime, you are welcome to share the email address with students: oxfordwritersworkshop@gmail.com
