7th grade class content:
In 7th grade art we will be focusing on the elements of art and principles of design; the building blocks of art. We will discuss how the elements and principles are used in famous historical artworks and how it can be applied to our work. Students will get a chance to explore a variety of mediums including, but not limited to: clay, pastels, pencil, and paint. Students will create two and three dimensional works of art and will have the opportunity to write about and discuss their artwork, as well as their classmates’ artwork. Projects will be designed to meet the Pennsylvania Visual Arts and Common Core Standards.
8th grade class content:
In 8th grade art we will be focusing on how art has played a role in society, both past and present; from functional to a form of expression. We will discuss how art is relevant in our world today and careers that can be pursued in the arts. Students will get a chance to explore a variety of mediums including, but not limited to: clay, pastels, pencil, and paint. Students will create two and three dimensional works of art and will have the opportunity to write about and discuss their artwork as well as their classmates’ artwork. Projects will be designed to meet the Pennsylvania Visual Arts and Common Core Standards.
