Teaching
I have been teaching in the Oxford Area School District since 2008. I have taught at several different grade levels, with a concentration in 5th and 6th grade. My teaching experiences include teaching special education, autistic support, and regular education for all content areas. I am certified to teach Elementary Education, Special Education, and Middle School Mathematics. In addition, I earned my Master's Degree from Drexel University in Mathematics Learning and Teaching.
I have also tutored for many years; first during my own middle school and high school career, and have continued throughout my adult life. I joined the Oxford Education Foundation in 2005 and continue as a tutor in intermediate and secondary mathematics.
We adopted a class pet in the spring of 2017, a Russian Tortoise named Franklin. He is an active, curious and very friendly tortoise. Students take care of him every day, and are welcome to take Franklin home over weekends, holidays and the summer. Just send a note if you are interested!
Personal
I am a resident of the Oxford Area School District, and am proud that my children have had successful experiences attending this school district. In addition to my 3 children, my family also includes one cat and two dogs (and Franklin of course). I have a passion for reading, cooking, gardening, and most recently, scuba diving. The beach is my happy place, and I earned my advanced open water scuba certificate in 2017. I also love the comic strip, "Peanuts," and have many characters displayed throughout the classroom. Most importantly, I enjoy time with my friends, family, and love the challenge of learning something new each day.
