Dr. Kauppila is the Director of Instrumental Music at Oxford Area High School. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from West Chester University,  Master of Music degree in Trumpet Performance from Bowling Green State University, and a Doctor of Education degree in Innovation and Leadership from Wilmington University. Dr. Kauppila has worked at OAHS for 20 years teaching the marching, concert and jazz bands; Music Theory; and 3 levels of Guitar. Dr. Kauppila is a freelance trumpet player, and performs regularly in the area. She is the Director of Youth Music at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Coatesville. She is also a Supervisor in the Performing Arts Department at Longwood Gardens. She resides in Oxford with her husband and two sons.
