• The Nurses Office does not have cough, cold, flu medication, antihistamines, allergy medications or antibiotics. ALL require a prescription from a physician and a signed Parent Medication Consent Form in order for the medication to be dispensed during school hours. The medication must be brought to the nurse’s office in the original container. Unless specifically ordered by a physician, school policy (policy #5610) prohibits students from carrying on their person ANY medication that is prescribed by a physician or purchased as “over-the-counter”. This includes but is not limited to eye drops, nasal drops, gargles, herbals, Advil and Tylenol.

     Respiratory inhalers and adrenalin Epi-pens are permitted to be carried and self-administered with a prescription from a physician, a signed parental consent form and registration of the medication in the nurse’s office.

    The nurse’s office has standing orders from school physician Dr. Deborah Drop to dispense:

    • Tylenol
    • Ibuprofen
    • Benadryl for acute allergic reaction
    • Tums for upset stomach
    • Chloraseptic Lozenges for sore throat discomfort
    • Cough drops – student are permitted to bring cough drops from home in secondary schools
    • Caladryl skin analgesic for poison ivy, insect bites, minor skin irritations
    • Hydorcortisone cream 1%

    Parents may come to the nurse’s office to administer medication to their child from the original container, if they so choose.
