We are thrilled to share an exciting opportunity for rising seniors interested in participating in the Workplace Experience program next year. This In-School Internship program, which is part of Workplace Experience, offers a variety of internships designed to provide real-world experience, enhance one's resume, and allow the student to earn school credit.
Each internship requires a commitment of one to two periods within the eight-period schedule. These opportunities are ideal for students eager to develop professional skills in a supportive and educational setting. Students will earn school credit equivalent to 0.5 credits per period, per semester, for their participation in the internships.
The available internships include:
- Peer Buddies Intern (NEW) - Interns will collaborate with peers in special education programs, such as Life Skills classes. Interns will promote social interaction, skill-building, and mutual understanding by working in classrooms and possibly attending electives with their buddies. This is an excellent opportunity for students interested in special education. Interns must sign a confidentiality agreement prior to participation.
- Technology Intern - Interns will work with the technology department to learn about the school’s network, hardware, and software systems. Interns will assist with troubleshooting and support for students, staff, and teachers.
- Library Intern - Interns will collaborate with Mrs. Liljestrand in managing the library's idea space and podcast room, promoting the library collection and programs, constructing displays, and more.
- Athletics Intern - Interns will partner with Ms. Sterling to support athletic events by setting up fields, working with players, coordinating with officials, posting to social media, and assisting visiting teams.
- English Learner Classroom Intern - Interns will assist students who are learning English as they navigate their class schedules, offering guidance and support.
- Athletic Training Intern (NEW) - Interns will support the athletic trainer in preparing student-athletes for after-school sports activities. Additionally, those interested may choose to stay and assist during games, providing an opportunity to gain firsthand experience and insight into the responsibilities and expectations of this profession. Students selected for this internship will have the opportunity to intern under the school's athletic trainer, Caitlyn Darczuk. She is a certified athletic trainer, licensed athletic trainer, and licensed CPR instructor, having graduated from East Stroudsburg University. With four years of experience at our school, she possesses a deep understanding of OAHS culture and requirements. Moreover, as an Oxford Area High School alumna, she brings a unique perspective to the role. Interns must sign a Penn Medicine HIPAA form prior to participation.

Next Steps: An email was sent in February with instructions on how to sign up for an interview with the respective department leader overseeing each internship. Students will then receive an interview time slot and date. If they are selected for the internship after their interview, the student will complete a Workplace Experience contract and turn it in to Guidance to have the internship added to their senior year schedule.
If you have any questions about these in-school internships or the Workplace Experience program, please feel free to contact Mrs. Geating at bgeating@oxfordasd.org.
We look forward to seeing many of you take advantage of these enriching opportunities!
